Murungi Nason - Reduction of HIV/AIDS Transmission, 2013

Murungi Nason -

This report was carried out in different areas i.e. at the health center, with individuals and different villages through the method of asking questions. This was done in order to ascertain how much knowledge they obtained from working with the project and the behaviors they resorted to after receiving the information.

 These are some of the questions that we used  during evaluation;

   What is HIV/AIDS?
   Method of spread
   How you can know you are infected
   Preventive measures
   Where to obtain counseling and testing services
   Responsibilities carried out as an individual when tested and found HIV/AIDS negative and the one found positive.
   Nutritional approach for the HIV/AID patient

Among the homes that we visited, one family was all positive. They told us that they started taking their medication and now they are happy with their full cooperation and their children, they told us that they get their drugs from Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital. They appreciated us for the work we did and they requested for regular visit for continuous guidance and counseling.

Among the students we approached, one told us that he found himself infected and he was using condoms. After attending the projects seminars/session, he realized that he was using the condom wrongly but as per now he is using it correctly in order to prevent the spread to his partner.

On meeting the health center in charge, she appreciated and told us that the number of couples has increase, mothers have improved on their general hygiene, they are aware of the information, they now know when to attend antenatal clinic and the nutritional approach during pregnancy.

The chair person was appreciating and he requested us to come back for more session in order to enlighten people.

During this activity, we also tried to provide more information by responding to their question they were asking. We ended by promising them that we can respond to every question they put across whether individual or communal.

We hope for more impact on the present and feature generation

Through GNI
With great honor, we send our great thank to Global Nurse Initiative for the great and holistic services rendered to this project.

Your son Murungi Nason.
